My Approach to Helping
Current times create, for all of us, both tremendous challenges and, yet, opportunities for compassionate self care. When stressed we are prone to react out of our fear and anxiety...out of our learned, embedded defense reactions. We become more self critical and judgmental. We then have the experience of feeling "stuck". I use a combination of Mindfulness and Compassion Focused Therapy to promote greater psychological flexibility to address this type of suffering. We are capable of learning new ways to calm the stress response, the inner critic and to hold ourselves in more loving kindness. To learn more feel free to contact me. I look forward to talking with you.
More Info About My Practice
I offer in-person and telehealth counseling. I have over 30 years of experience and my clients span all adult age ranges. I keep my practice intentionally smaller than most therapists in private practice which reflects the values I hold in offering superior levels of client service and responsiveness. So I also am careful in our initial phone contact to ensure I am the best person to address your concerns. If not I will help you find another counselor who is better suited...because I recognize the search for one is stressful in and of itself.
Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist
We most value the relationships in our lives where we feel accepted despite all of our fears to the contrary. In choosing a therapist it's vital to have this same sense of safe rapport. The compassion a therapist demonstrates should be a natural expression of the breadth of their life and professional experience.
