My Approach to Helping
I specialize in working with youth, young adults, and families who are navigating difficult challenges—whether it's managing emotional struggles, coping with family conflict, or working through complex behavioral issues. Many of the families I work with are experiencing high levels of conflict, often with at least one parent (sometimes both) meeting the criteria for a formal diagnosis. Others are going through a painful separation or divorce. I understand how overwhelming these situations can feel, and my approach is centered on providing a compassionate, supportive space where healing and growth can begin.
When working with youth, my approach is developmentally informed and rooted in child-centered protocols to ensure that interventions are both effective and age-appropriate. I’ve had the privilege of supporting individuals as they learn to cope with depression, anxiety, anger, self-harm, suicidal behaviors, and a history of antisocial or sexual offending behaviors. I also have specialized training in working with complex anger issues, modeling and encouraging assertive communication to help clients express their needs in healthy, constructive ways.
In addition to cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), I’m trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), a skills-based approach that is particularly helpful for emotional dysregulation and self-destructive behaviors. When working with families, I focus on addressing parental concerns and teaching skills to improve parent-child and co-parent relationships. By targeting and shifting harmful interaction patterns, I help families reconnect and build healthier communication.
I draw from a range of evidence-based interventions to ensure that each treatment plan is personalized and effective for the unique needs of my clients. I also take pride in maintaining an ever-growing list of resources to empower clients with the tools and knowledge they need to overcome challenges and build resilience. At the core of my practice is a deep belief in the power of the therapeutic relationship. My goal is to create a supportive, non-judgmental space where clients feel truly heard and understood. No matter the reason we connect, I feel privileged to be part of each person’s journey toward positive, lasting change.
