My Approach to Helping
I am licensed in Texas with 4 years of professional work experience. I have an associates in justice administration, a bachelor's in justice administration with a focus on human services and a minor in psychology, and a master's of arts in counseling. I have experience in helping clients with coping with addictions, trauma and abuse, & anger management. I also have experience working with coping with life changes. I have worked with all levels of addiction, Bexar County Probation, in-patient recovery, wounded transition for military members, domestic violence, and crisis intervention.
My concept is no one can judge another person's journey. I utilize primarily motivational interviewing and person-centered approach to getting to the core of issues because the surface is only the symptoms.
I work with a wide spectrum of clients with multiple layers of concerns. I have experience in helping clients with coping with addictions, trauma and abuse, & anger management. I also have experience working with coping with life changes. I have worked with all levels of addiction, Bexar County Probation, in-patient recovery, wounded transition for military members, domestic violence, and crisis intervention.
I believe in a realistic approach through transparency and being authentic. I am a real person and I want to help with genuine concerns for all people.
I did not know what my calling was, but I was a medic and thought the natural progression was to become a nurse. The doctors felt because of my injuries that would not be a good fit for me so my school advisor suggested I switch to the Maser's program for counseling. Did not realize God closed one door to open another, but here I am and I wouldn't give it up for anything.
I have a priorities list which is nothing more than a list of goals. If you make something a priority then you will work on it and if healing is your priority then it is our goal to work on it.
Introductions and getting familiar with backgrounds are usually where I start.
