My Approach to Helping
INTERNET (Video-Chat) & PHONE SESSIONS AVAILABLE. It is difficult enough to select a competent and experienced PSYCHOLOGIST from the listings of so many different types of "therapists," "counselors" and "psychotherapists" (NONE of which are the same as as a "Psychologist"). It is unlikely that you would ever purposely select a physician who lacked Board Certification in their specialty area. In a similar manner, the American Board of Professional Psychology ("ABPP") awards Board-Certified status only to PSYCHOLOGISTS (the highest professional credential in clinical psychology) who pass their rigorous credentials review and comprehensive written and oral examination. Look for the letters "ABPP" after a psychologist's degree as evidence that they are indeed Board-Certified. After earning his Ph.D. degree at Hofstra University in NY, Dr. Levine then completed a 2-year Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Cognitive-Behavior Therapy (CBT) at Temple University Medical School in Philadelphia. Dr. Levine was also honored to have served on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Behavior Therapy & Experimental Psychiatry, one the pre-eminent research journals in the field. After moving to LA in 2012, Dr. Levine served as a Psychologist at the UCLA School of Medicine and began a private practice in both Beverly Hills and at Cedars-Sinai Medical Tower. Prior to moving to LA, Dr Levine had previously served as the Chief Psychologist at Mt. Sinai South-Nassau Medical Center in New York. He is currently licensed as a psychologist in California, New York, Florida, Kansas and Hawaii.
More Info About My Practice
Dr. Levine has also served as a Clinical Psychologist for the hit TV series "Hoarders" on the A & E Television Network and has more than 30 years experience as a clinical psychologist. He employs Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to treat a wide range of problems and issues. He has a significant concern about your confidentiality and privacy and as result, he will personally answer your phone calls. You will never be forced to speak with an unknown receptionist, answering service or secretary. Beginning in 2025 he will be primarily located in Savannah, GA, but will continue to see clients from California, Florida, Hawaii, Kansas and New York via TELEHEALTH (Encrypted Video-Chat). You can expect the same high level of care whether he is physically located on the east or west coast at the time of your visit. You will find his approach to be caring, concerned and competent. He will provide insurance claim forms that you can then send to your PPO insurance company to obtain direct insurance reimbursement. Feel free to call him (323-417-2325) or EVEN BETTER THAN CALLING, simply email him (BHpsychologist@gmail.com) today and get a quick reply! He will be glad to answer any questions you may have, directly, privately and personally.
My Therapy Focus
Since the COVID epidemic in 2020 I switched to all Telehealth treatment. I have been convinced (both as a result of my own experience and the results of several large-scale research studies) that the outcomes are virtually identical. Clients appear to do just as well and success rates seem equivalent to in-person sessions, but without the travel time, traffic, parking and hassle of coming to an office building sometimes far from home or work.
Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist
The two most important considerations in selecting a psychologist are competence and fit. It's generally not too difficult to research a psychologist's credentials, background, training and level of experience. That should be step number one. Did the therapist earn a Ph.D. from a reputable university? Where did they complete their training and did they choose to obtain post-doctoral fellowship training? Where have they worked and for how long? How much experience do they have, especially in treating those with your specific issues and concerns? Did they choose to be evaluated by their peers for their competence by applying for Board Certification? Once you are assured that you have found a highly competent psychologist you should then evaluate whether they are a "good fit" for you. Are you comfortable working with them? Do you feel a good connection and sense of mutual purpose? Do they listen carefully to you and seem genuinely interested? This may take a few visits to ascertain, but use your judgement and remember that you are entrusting your care to this person.
