My Approach to Helping
Ever feel like you're going through the motions of life without experiencing joy and personal meaning? I am here to help you resolve past trauma, redesign your thinking, regulate your emotions, build your self-esteem, and establish a routine that brings expansion and purpose into your life. I will support you through the process of self-development, so that you can create the reality in which you desire. We will explore the issues at hand and collaborate on a treatment plan to create your desired life.
I will help you reestablish your focus and concentration. Doing so will foster increased self-awareness in your ability to regulate difficult thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Improved relationships and effective parenting practices are additional outcomes when working with me.
It's never too late to create positive change in your life. My clients often report feeling dramatically better and living more purposely within only a few session and sustained improvement thereafter. Therapy is the greatest investment in yourself- one that brings actual health and well-being.
More Info About My Practice
I work with clients who may be struggling with depression, anxiety, or trauma related to their relationships or family. During our initial sessions, we will explore the issues at hand, and collaborate to create a plan for addressing them in a way that helps you get your life back.
I have over 14 years of experience helping children, teens, adults, and families create healthier relationships with themselves and others. I also specialize in helping couples reestablish love and respect in their relationship.
I teach Child Development for Chapman University, and have over 11 years of experience teaching masters and bachelors level psychology.
What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist
I've always believed in following your inner guidance. As a child growing up in a culture that dismissed mental health, I often felt confused and in search of understanding the behaviors and motivations of others.
This curiosity lead me into the field of psychology where I found a path to understand myself and others.
It quickly became my life's purpose to guide others in their quest for self-development.
I feel aligned, inspired, and filled with JOY when I am doing this work.
In order to consistently be the truest version of myself, I attend to my own healing daily.
I do this through self-healing modalities such as meditation, prayer, exercise, nutritious eating, intention setting, and mindfully regulating my experience.
My Therapy Focus
I often use Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy in my practice. In your first session, we'll explore what brought you to therapy and then decide the most appropriate ways to help you make progress. We will explore your feelings, your circumstances, and your options. With REBT, we'll look at how your thoughts affect your emotions and experience. During treatment, I'll help you learn how to dispute and replace those thoughts to change your feelings for the better.
What I Say to People Concerned about the Therapy Process
Going to therapy can feel scary and intimidating. When you are working with the right therapist, your fears will be quickly put to ease as you will feel supported and cared for in an empathic, safe, and non-judgmental space. You can bring your true thoughts and feelings to our work together; I can handle it. The hardest step is starting. From there, therapy begins feeling like a highlight in your week as each session brings a layer of clarity, growth, and self-care.
