My Approach to Helping
Hello! My name is Elise Severin. I graduated with a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and specialization in Trauma Counseling from Richmont Graduate University. My goal as a counselor is to offer a welcoming, warm space where my clients feel respected, heard, and safe.
While pursuing my masters degree, I worked with women, couple, adolescents, and children. This population gave me experience working with a variety of underlying mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, learning disabilities, social skills, and abuse. While I treat a host of issues and challenges, my focus is anxiety, depression, learning disabilities, and trauma. I believe in meeting my clients where they are on their path. I believe a strong, trusting relationship with your therapist is just as important as your therapist's skill and experience.
My goal is to help people live a healthy, hopeful, and emotionally balanced life through professional counseling. I highly value the power of the therapeutic relationship and have an authentic ability to meet clients where they are. I believe individuals can best grow when they are in an environment of genuineness, acceptance and empathy. I am committed to providing a safe and comfortable atmosphere, where clients of all ages can explore the challenges they are facing. I use a combination of techniques, drawing from attachment theory, psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, strength-based and client-centered techniques to meet my clients where they are and walk with them through the process of creating positive change.
I believe we are more willing to deal with problems when we feel respected and encouraged. Choosing to start therapy services can be difficult, but is a healthy and proactive decision that I would be honored to take part in. Everyone is different, and those differences are what make us unique. My goal is to develop a strong therapeutic relationship with you so that we can explore those differences and help you to grow and change in a positive way. Therapy is useful for those in crisis, as well as those experiencing daily life struggles, and I will do everything I can to help you develop and achieve your goals in therapy.
I am currently accepting new clients and am available on weekdays, evenings, and Saturdays. I am able to offer lower prices for those that qualify. My office is in Kennesaw about 3 minutes from the Kennesaw State University campus.
