My Approach to Helping
I am a licensed clinical social worker. Clients have described me as thoughtful, relatable, humorous, open-minded, a good listener, and a creative problem solver. I utilize cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) which is a form of therapy that can be used to treat people with a wide range of mental health struggles. CBT is based on the idea that how we think (cognition), how we feel (emotion), and how we act (behavior) all interact together. I have extensive experience working with clients who struggle with anxiety and depression. I also work with the aging population on their families.
I strive to provide my clients with a safe and calm environment. I pride myself on being able to challenge my clients to better themselves while building a strong therapeutic bond. I served in the United States Air Force for 4 years. When I left the military I knew I wanted to be part of a helping profession. Through much research, I decided a career in mental health and social work was the perfect fit. I have worked with people of all ages and their families.
I utilize motivational interviewing to allow the client to set their own, obtainable goals. During the first session, clients can expect to start building and exploring a therapeutic relationship. I will give the client an opportunity to ask me questions and decide if they think we are a good fit.
