My Approach to Helping
I believe that you are stronger than you think you are, and I would love to help you re-discover your inner strength. I also believe that your choice to pursue therapy speaks to your strength and to your desire to grow and change. If you are sensitive and empathetic, or you prioritize the needs of others over your own, perhaps you don't always feel so strong. Instead, your sensitivity might contribute to feelings of anxiety, overwhelm, or self-doubt. Perhaps you have forgotten how to trust yourself or to know what you want in life. I know this struggle well, and I enjoy using mindfulness and mind-body techniques to help clients tune back into their own needs and desires, so that they can feel more grounded, integrated, and at ease.
My approach to therapy is integrative, and I consider the whole person--mind, body, and spirit. While we will talk through what is bothering you, I will also encourage you to attend to your body's signals, in order to help calm your mind. We will also explore how the events of your past have contributed to your current life challenges. Doing so can bring greater awareness to your current situation and can help identify changes you can make to ensure that your past does not dictate your future.
Helping people move toward a more compassionate acceptance of themselves is also a passion of mine. I know that people are capable of change, because I have witnessed it. I would love to witness you change, and I welcome the opportunity to do so.
