My Approach to Helping
Hello there and welcome to my page! My name is Ellya Indradjaja and I’m a License Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) based in New York City. I specialize in treating clients with Anxiety, Stress, Relationship, Trauma, and Life Transition. I utilize varied theoretical approaches for each individual to promote healing and growth.
I focus on helping clients improve self-awareness, promote healing, and build resilience. Clients will learn techniques to regulate their emotions and get mental clarity. You also learn skills to cope with specific life challenges. I often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based (MBCT), Trauma-informed Approach (TIA), Acceptance and Commitment (ACT), Solution-Focused (SFBT), and Motivational Interviewing.
I work with diverse population aged 18 or older. Most clients come to receive support in dealing with Anxiety-related issues. My specialties are Relationships, FamilyMarriage issues, Stress from work or chronic illness, difficulties Life Transition, Trauma, and Depression. Clients may invite their partner or family members into the therapy room when they need it.
I create a warm and open communication where clients can express themselves. I’m open-minded, solution-oriented, and empowering my clients. You will feel understood, validated, and respected. My clients often said to me “You really listen!”
I love to work in the field which improves the quality of individual’s life. Before becoming a therapist I worked as a humanitarian worker, school teacher, and caregiver. As a caregiver, I had several clients who suffered from mental health issues. They felt isolated and misunderstood by family members and friends. They inspired me to study mental health and become a mental health therapist.
I will listen to you and discern your issue or concern. I help you to set the therapy goals and support you to achieve them. You may adjust your goals when you have more clarity after having a few therapy sessions with me. From time to time we’ll celebrate each step of progress you make.
You have taken the first step to have therapy with me. Whether you have been in therapy before or this is your first therapy ever I invite you to be yourself. Your therapy session will be a non-judgmental and safe space where you can express yourself. I may ask you some questions or ask clarification to make sure we are on the same page. Also, the first few sessions will be the time for you and I to build a positive therapeutic relationship.
