My Approach to Helping

Many women (especially in the fast-paced, competitive environment of the Bay Area) struggle to balance the multiple roles we have acquired. In doing so, we may consistently feel invalidated due to the expectations we place on ourselves andor external (partners, parents, family members, work, society) pressures. We may ignore andor begin to forget about our true selves attempting to become someone we think we should be at this time in our lives, andor someone we think others want us to be. In the process, we may question our feelings andor silence our intuition. We may be left with self-doubt, low-self esteem, anxiety, depression, body image issues, career issues (including impostor syndrome), addiction, andor relationship problems.

After many years in the academic, corporate, and start-up environments of biotechnology (research, project management, product coordination, senior management, and executive management), I became interested in the unique challenges women continue to face in their work environments (including academic settings) and in their personal lives (as daughters, sisters, friends, mothers, partners, community members) with a desire to make it all work. In 2007, I changed my career to follow my passion to support and help to empower others find their voices, identify their strengths, tap into their intuition, and meet their goals. These intentions aim to reduce suffering, improve relationships, and increase quality of life.

My style is warm, empathic, respectful, and non-judgmental. I work in collaboration with you to set clear goals at the beginning of treatment. We will continue to track your progress and objectives throughout our work together, as I am dedicated to offering the highest quality of care.

If you are struggling with a life transition (changes at workcareer, student, new parent, relationships, etc.), or want to gain insight regarding specific patterns in your life, please contact me to see how I may help, or I will refer you to someone who can support you in reducing your suffering and improving your quality of life.

More Info About My Practice

I offer individual (50 min or 90 min) and group sessions.

Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist

Because it is important to choose the right therapist for you, I offer a free, 20 min initial consultation to answer questions you may have. During the consult, we will determine if I will be able to meet your treatment goals, if you feel comfortable working with me, and if we can agree on fees and a meeting schedule. If I am a good fit as a therapist for you, we can set up an initial session, and if not, I will provide you with referrals for clinician(s)resource(s) that will better meet your needs.

Theoretical Influences that Guide My Work

My theoretical influences and treatment strategies include Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focuesed Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
