My Approach to Helping
Erica Thiem is a compassionate, dedicated therapist committed to guiding individuals through life's most challenging moments. She creates a safe, supportive space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered. With a focus on connection, Erica fosters a collaborative therapeutic relationship, helping clients uncover the root causes of their struggles and develop greater self-awareness, resilience, and growth.
Drawing from a range of therapeutic techniques—including Person-Centered Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Narrative Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)—Erica tailors each session to the unique needs of her clients. Her goal is to help individuals transform challenges into opportunities for healing and fulfillment, ultimately guiding them toward a life aligned with their true selves.
Erica holds a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Winona State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse. She completed an EFT externship in 2022 and has advanced training in DBT and Behavioral Activation.
With a diverse background in supporting individuals from various walks of life, Erica has worked with children, young adults, refugees, and individuals in crisis. Before relocating to Colorado, she worked at an inpatient mental health center in Wisconsin, providing care to adults in crisis. She has also collaborated with medical teams in hospitals across Wisconsin and Minnesota and co-hosted a bilingual Spanish-English language exchange group, fostering cross-cultural connections and language skills.
