My Approach to Helping
With just under 30 years of practice as a clinical psychologist, I have treated a variety of presenting mental health concerns including, but not limited to, adjustment issues, anxiety, and depressive conditions, bipolar, relationship issues, stress management and workplace issues, as well as issues concerning women, particularly women of color. My approach to psychotherapeutic treatment includes trauma-informed treatment using motivational interviewing, mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) principles as well as the use of evidence-based assessment tools to assess and monitor changes in symptoms. Recognizing that mind and body constitute the whole person, I also take a behavioral medicine perspective when addressing mental health conditions that may emerge from physical health conditions. In doing so, my work has intersected with various medical specialties such as internal medicine, pediatrics, cardiology, obstetrics-gynecology, and nephrology.
