My Approach to Helping
I provide both psychotherapy and psychoanalysis. I work with a wide range of issues ranging from depression, sadness, anxiety, grief, work-related difficulties, parenting related issues, and intimacy related concerns to more severe issues such as schizophrenia, personality disorders and trauma related symptoms. I also work with couples and have extensive training in working with adolescents.
I work best with people interested in making significant changes in their inner lives and circumstances. In my practice, I provide you with a place to speak freely, so that through this singular experience of speaking you can articulate your desire and live your life according to your passions.
As a Psychoanalyst, I see people in Lacanian Psychoanalysis. If you are interested in exploring the option of analysis, we can meet for a few preliminary sessions in order to establish whether this is a good fit for what you are looking for. For more information on Lacanian Psychoanalysis, please see my website.
More Info About My Practice
In addition to my private practice, I am also Professor Emeritus in the School of Professional Psychology at the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco. As well, I am an Editor-in-Chief of The European Journal of Psychoanalysis and a member of the Institute of Advanced Studies in Psychoanalysis based in Rome, Italy.
I have published two books and a number of articles and book chapters. Please see my website for more information on my publications and presentations: www.drcastrillon.com
Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
I find that my way of working is quite effective with highly successful people whose way of being in the world is no longer serving them like it used to. These folks often feel empty, angry, confused and as having lost their passion. I have worked successfully with many people who seem to fit this particular set of circumstances.
Theoretical Influences that Guide My Work
My theoretical orientation is highly influenced by the fact that I am a Lacanian psychoanalyst. My practice also draws from schizoanalysis, family systems theory, Gestalt and existential philosophy.
