My Approach to Helping
Therapy is like trying to solve a riddle. I start off my sessions by asking "What's not working?" That's the first clue in the riddle. I genuinely believe that my client's are trying their best but sometimes the best we do, doesn't work. So I work with my client's to identify why it's not working. We bounce idea around. We look at what is going on in your thoughts and feelings, explore dynamics of personality, life events, health and relationships. We are searching for clues.
For me therapy is all about giving my clients the tools, insight and words they need to solve that riddle..."what's not working".
Once we answer that riddle then we start to focus on practical changes. Changes to habits, relationships, self talk, ways of looking at the world, etc. Because once we start making changes to our actions it will begin to change how we feel. And if we change how we feel we will change how we view and interpret the world. And if we see the world differently it will change our actions.
