My Approach to Helping
My name is Gaëlle Vernet and I am a licensed clinical professional counselor who is passionate about taking on the journey with people to assist them with identifying the interconnections of different parts of their lives. Once the relations are known then it is easier to understand the way each part affects another. Since everyone is different and no specific modality can fit everyone, I work from a collaborative, strength-based approach, using modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness therapy, positive psychology, and reality therapy. I encourage people to pursue a holistic approach to health, which incorporates exercise, sleep, nutrition, relationships, spiritual practices, and hobbies.
I worked as a case manager as well as a mental health specialist, which allowed me to interact with individuals of eclectic backgrounds, including, but not limited to homeless, parolees, substance abuse, HIVAIDS, LGBTQ, mental health disorders (anxiety, depression, bipolar, schizophrenia, dual diagnosis), and people with other life maladjustments. My communication style varies based on the person. I try my best to meet the person where they are by providing a safe space for them to be as expressive as they want.
