My Approach to Helping
Having trouble with your kids, family, job, school, or just life in general? We all have problems at one time or another and often become overwhelmed, forgetting we are still doing more things right than wrong. Talking with a skilled, supportive counselor will help solve problems faster than doing it on your own, and help you take charge of your life again. I'll help you recognize and use your strengths, skills, and past successes to make the changes you want to see in your life or family. Or, maybe you just want to gain some clarity and perspective.
We'll work together to build solutions that work for you and your family--solutions that fit your personality and your way of doing things. You'll be pleasantly surprised at how positive an experience counseling can be and maybe even have a laugh or two along the way.
I work with children, teenagers, adults, parents, and families; and with a variety of concerns including Aspergers, family problems, work problems, anxiety, depression, etc. . The hardest part is always picking up the phone to make your first appointment. For other useful info visit my blog at www.grandrapidshealthnotes.blogspot.com.

My Therapy Focus
I enjoy working with a wide variety of concerns including helping people deal with anxiety and depression, improve relationships, make life changing decisions, heal from past trauma, or deal with a current crisis.
I enjoy working with teenagers, adults, couples, and families. I work from a solution focused model which just means counseling focuses on helping you figure out specifically what changes you want to make in your life or situation, helping you figure out what you're already doing right so you can do more of what works, and helping you figure out what small, do-able changes you can start with to get you closer to your ideal future.
I especially enjoy working with teenagers and teenage concerns, as well as parent concerns about teenagers. Due to my previous experience as a school social worker, I have a lot of experience working with teenagers who really don't want to go to counseling.
Making that first phone call to set up your counseling appointment is usually the hardest part. Once you do that the rest is pretty easy. If you think solution focused counseling is right for you, please give me a call or send an email.
