My Approach to Helping
Is Parenting Feeling Tough Right Now?
Being a parent can be great, but it comes with challenges, especially if you're navigating adoption, a blended family, or caring for a relative's child. If you're feeling like things aren't working in your family, know it's okay to seek help. You're not alone, and support is available to guide you through.
Hi! I'm Dr. Glenda Clare. I am licensed in mental health and addiction counseling. I've not only studied these fields, but I've also lived them. I grew up in a blended family and have been the caregiver for a relative’s child. Let's work together to figure out strategies that fit your family. Think Possibilities!
Partnership is key - I’m a nonjudgmental partner, here to create a safe space as I lend a helping hand. I will partner with you to figure out your family dynamics - what’s working well and what needs some adjustment. I use trauma-informed, solution-focused practices to help you explore strategies that fit your unique family needs.

I'm here to help. Here's what we can do together:
• Figure Things Out: I will partner with you to identify your needs - what's working well and what might need adjustment. We'll develop strategies that fit your unique family.
• Build Stronger Bonds: We’ll explore ways to help you connect more deeply with the children and youth in your life. Sometimes, small changes can lead to big improvements in your relationship.
• Talk Things Through: We'll practice having calm, respectful conversations where you (and members of your family if they come to sessions) feel heard and understood. Finding common ground can make a big difference.
• Support Big Feelings: I’ll help you learn techniques for understanding and managing those big emotions, both for yourself and the members of your family. Creating a safe space for feelings can bring more harmony to your home.
What I Usually Need to Know to Help
Are You Feeling a Bit Lost?: Do you sometimes feel like you're not quite sure what to do next. It's okay to feel this way, and it's okay to ask for help.
Are You Trying to Connect?: Building strong parentchild connections can be challenging, especially in unique family situations. Understanding how to connect better can make a big difference.
Are You Dealing with Arguments?: Every family has disagreements, but when they start to feel overwhelming, it's important to have strategies for talking things out peacefully.
Do You Understand Big Feelings?: Children, youth and adults can have big feelings that are sometimes hard to understand or manage. Learning how to navigate these feelings together can bring more peace to your home.
Here's what you need to know about me:
When I'm not working, I enjoy good conversation, vegetable gardening and riding my bike. Two of my favorite things are: 1) watching movies, and 2) reading books. There is so much therapeutic value in watching movies and reading. Know that I give homework assignments. Sometimes those assignments include watching a movie or reading a book. So much can be learned through witnessing the experiences of others via books and movies.
