My Approach to Helping

Hi! I’m Grace, and I’m a licensed clinical mental health counseling associate (LCMHCA) at Your Journey Through. I work with children, teens, adults, and LGBTQ+ populations struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, identity issues, communication, boundary-setting, body image, self-esteem, and emotion regulation. I am currently training to become a certified clinical trauma professional and advancing my counseling approach to include polyvagal theory and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) for trauma.

I am a North Carolina native and have lived all over the state. You can find me surrounding myself with friends and family, playing card and board games, watching Hurricanes hockey games, and traveling with my partner.

I approach counseling from a person-centered, strengths-based, narrative therapy lens. I am committed to meeting people with warmth, empathy, and acceptance while acknowledging and respecting where you are in the therapeutic process. I believe each individual has a unique set of strengths. We will work collaboratively to set goals and achieve growth throughout the therapeutic process. I utilize techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and polyvagal therapy as an aid to my approach as I believe these techniques help support your progress throughout counseling. When it comes to working with children, I strive to utilize their language of play to support their experience in counseling.

I am so excited to meet you and work with you through counseling! I strive to hear your story and validate your lived experiences. You are the expert of your life, and I am here to serve as a guide to your exploration, growth, and self-acceptance.
