My Approach to Helping
My name is Hannah Capps and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Los Angeles, CA. I provide therapy to clients statewide via telehealth. I work with adults (18+) and specialize in treatment for depression, anxiety, and ADHD, as well as coping with life's stressors, big and small. I tailor my approach for each client and their needs- however, in general I tend to draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Somatic Therapy. I believe in using a supportive, eclectic approach to meet clients wherever they may be, and providing both short term coping strategies and teaming up with my client to work toward long term change.
I work with adults of any age- I have experience working with older adults, but also enjoy working with young adults as they deal with life transitions. I have worked extensively with depression, anxiety disorders, self-esteem concerns, and stress.I work to create a warm and welcoming environment where clients can come as they are. I strive to provide a non-judgmental space where clients feel safe to discuss potentially difficult topics. I believe in the importance of self-determination and collaborative relationship between the client and therapist.
As cliched as it sounds, I have always been passionate about helping others and social work has provided a pathway to do that. I believe that mental health is just as important as physical health for someone's overall wellness, and that everyone has a right to live happy and fulfilling lives. I feel privileged to be able to team up with people from all walks of life and work together on them being able to live the lives they want to.
I like to approach goal-setting by exploring what a client would like to change or be different in their day-to-day lives, and working collaboratively to create specific, positive, and attainable goals for treatment. Goals are set by clients- I am just here to help.
