My Approach to Helping
Hannah was born in Kansas City and now resides in the outskirts of Houston, Texas. Hannah attended the University of Texas at Austin to obtain her bachelor of arts degree in psychology and further went on to obtain a master's of science in clinical mental health counseling at Texas Tech University. She is an LPC-Associate working to obtain full licensure.
Hannah has found her passion in working with marginalized communities and those who have been affected by trauma. She has spent 4 years working in community mental health with those who are suffering from severe and persistent mental illnesses, including PTSD, major depressive condition, bipolar, substance use, generalized anxiety issue, schizophrenia, and schizoaffective condition. Hannah has experience working with clients in crisis, those experiencing homelessness, and clients that may overlap in the legal system. She believes strongly in trauma-focused and person-centered approaches. Hannah has experience with CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) as a sole modality for treatment, however, she is more inclined to use a combination of modalities, including person-centered, motivational interviewing, and solution-based therapies. She will meet clients where they are at and adjust her approach with each and every client.
In her free time, you may find Hannah with her nose in a book, watching the Kansas City Chiefs and the Texas Longhorns dominate a football game, or awaiting the next Taylor Swift album. Hannah is passionate about traveling and learning about other cultures. Her favorite place she has been to so far is Venice, Italy (no surprise that her favorite food is anything with carbs). She and her husband have a rescue dog named Rondo, who is 5 years old and the apple of both of his parents' eyes.
