My Approach to Helping
Hi there, first of all, congratulations on taking this very courageous step in seeking therapy, whether this is your first encounter with therapy, or you are returning to therapy… it is not easy, so I want to commend you for that. It looks like you are ready to emerge as your most authentic self!
Are you grieving a certain aspect of your life? I understand that grief and loss extend far beyond the death of a loved one. As a specialist in thanatology (study of death, dying, and bereavement), I have a unique understanding of your plight. Furthermore, I recognize that these feelings can arise from many different life experiences. Whether it’s the end of a significant relationship, the loss of a job, a major life transition, or even the realization of unfulfilled dreams, grief can manifest in various forms. My goal is to support you through these challenging times, providing a safe space where your emotions are validated and understood. Together, we will explore the depths of your grief, uncovering its roots and finding pathways toward healing and resilience.
I combine psychodynamic and person centered approaches to help you explore underlying past experiences, while empowering you to move confidently into your present and future. You are not alone, and whatever you are facing is not permanent. You have the strength to heal, empower yourself, and transform your life. I would be honored to travel this path with you.
In your initial therapy session, we will engage in a brief introduction, as most of the information would have been collected prior to this visit. We will establish confidentiality boundaries, discuss the concerns that have brought you therapy, set initial goals and expectations for therapy. The session aims to lay the groundwork for a trusting therapeutic relationship and to begin addressing your needs effectively.
