My Approach to Helping
My clients describe me as warm, accepting and non-judgmental. I believe that finding the right therapist for you is an important part of having a positive experience in therapy. I work collaboratively with my clients with the goal of helping them better understand themselves and lead a more balanced and fulfilled life. I help my clients to think about their problems and relationship in new ways by offering support and feedback about behavioral and relationship patterns. While I do not offer direct advice, I am active and participatory in each session with my clients.
More Info About My Practice
While I currently do not accept insurance, I offer a sliding scale fee. Many of my clients are college/ graduate students and young professionals and I understand that having a flexible fee can be helpful. I believe that the cost should not be prohibitive in achieving mental health well-being.
Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
Prior to entering into the field of psychology, I had a career as an attorney. As a therapist, I have several years of experience working with lawyers and law students and am uniquely positioned to help with concerns and issues specific to this group.
Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist
Having a good "fit" between a client and therapist is an important part of the therapy experience. It is important to feel comfortable with your therapist and feel that you can be open in sharing your concerns and experiences. A positive rapport and connection with your therapist can also enrich the therapy experience. Much of this comes down to "gut feeling." Finally, think about your communication style. Would you prefer a more directive therapist who leads the session or a therapist who follows your lead? Finding a balance that works for you is another important factor in choosing a therapist.
