My Approach to Helping
I consider myself a client-centered psychotherapist. My first objective when working with you is to develop a safe and trusting counseling experience. To that end, my approach to counseling entails and encompasses honoring your unique life experiences. My counseling philosophy is to align counseling techniques and strategies that help you work through your personal and specific life challenges, concerns, and goals.
Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
Counseling women and men in a non-profit domestic abuse center has given me the skills to aid the person who experienced, or continues experiencing, emotional, psychological, physical, and sexual abuse. Many times the survivor of domestic abuse may experience underlying emotional and psychological challenges, and those challenges may in turn inhibit the person's ability to function as well as he or she desires. The counseling experience offers the person a safe and trusting environment to discover and define his or her strengths, as well as, work towards a healthy physical, emotional, and mental well being. My counseling skills, techniques and strategies enable and enhance the individual's ability to work through anxiety, depressive, and obsessive challenges so daily functioning is healthier and more positively productive.
My Role as a Therapist
As a therapist, I strive for gaining an in-depth understanding of your life experiences, which ultimately encompasses your cultural, spiritual, religious, and relationship beliefs. My role as your therapist is to enhance your ability and understanding of how to be more successful with increasing your personal strengths and self-awareness, as well as, develop skills that aid in defining your choices and possibilities for a healthier balanced individual. To that end, my ultimate and essential role as your therapist... is to enhance your ability to live life to your fullest potential.
