My Approach to Helping
Isaac is a trauma-informed counselor who specializes in individual therapy for most age groups and has worked with many different types of clients; this includes those suffering from trauma, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and individuals with severe mental illness. Isaac's experience includes treatment of PTSD and other trauma-related conditions, obsessive compulsive, various eating issues, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, anger issues, and various psychotic conditions.
Isaac is a firm believer in evidence-based therapy, so his therapeutic approach changes from client to client; however, his default approach is cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). In the past, he has also used person-centered therapy, solution-based therapy, and psychological first aid.
In 2018, Isaac received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology with minors in English and Criminal Justice. In 2021, he received his Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas. Before coming to Mind of Peace Counseling, Isaac worked as an assessor for the only Maximum-Security Mental Health Hospital in Texas. He then worked as a counselor for a non-profit, focusing on providing services to victims of crimes.
Isaac is a proponent of maintaining a work-life balance where possible for my clients, as well as for himself. When Isaac is not working with clients, he enjoys playing video games. His favorite genre is a tie between RPGs and grand strategy. Isaac also actively plays dungeons and dragons with a friend group on the weekends. He also enjoys reading and spending the rest of his time wrangling his great pyrenees dog named Alpine.
