My Approach to Helping
Painful feelings are not a sign of weakness nor, are they your fault. There is relief and, there is hope.
Our first hour together is free. I do this because this time should only be for you. You should be the one to decide if you feel comfortable with us working together. Your level of comfort and openness is important to me. You should feel free to ask any questions you may have without feeling any pressure to get \"something\" done.
In the past, most families have had the stability of living in one place with resources such as grandparents and lifelong friends. Now, we move, change jobs, and may have blended or single parent families. Our resources may no longer be there for us. Life\'s challenges can make us feel powerless, frustrated, depressed and isolated.
These feelings can create anguish that feels tortuous, and at times unrelenting. Pushing them aside just doesn\'t seem to work anymore. Since these feelings are unseen, they are not easily understood. Unfortunately, we may think these feelings are a sign of weakness and we think we should be able to \"just get over it.\" It takes strength and courage to reach out, ask for help, and commit to discovery and change.
Life\'s challenges can cause feelings of hopelessness, sadness, and fear. Sometimes, it may seem these challenges are overwhelming. These feelings actually expose us to more illness and physical pain and also affects our judgment, decision making, and personal relationships. If you are reading this, then you are reading with hope. Hope with understanding and help, can bring you relief.
