My Approach to Helping
Therapy, when done well, should be a partnership between two humans that will evolve as therapy progresses. I\'ve learned a great deal from clinical theory and I can observe actions and interactions in detail. But all of that remains abstract and essentially useless until the client responds to the observations that are made. As therapy unfolds it should feel as if the client and therapist and are making a new dance (not all actions and intent are told through words) and an untold story.
Therapy should be guided by methodical principles and careful observation and be flexible enough to change in response to client needs. But it ultimately an intuitive process if it\'s ultimately successful.
I remain as curious as when I was a young child, which is part of why I am drawn to this profession. I also believe help is invariably possible, progress can be made. But effort will be required, it will mark the progress and journey forward.
