My Approach to Helping

I strive to deliver compassionate counseling with sincere dedication to service, and to do so as efficiently as possible in order to help alleviate stress and anxiety and encourage emotional independence. My practice, Keys to Counseling, is rooted in Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT). REBT is a goal-oriented therapeutic approach that promotes emotional wellness by helping people to challenge and replace self-defeating beliefs with healthier alternatives. REBT is generally shorter-term, solution-focused, and present-centered which makes it an excellent choice for those who not only wish to FEEL better but to GET better.

More Info About My Practice

My mission is to promote healthy living through rational thinking. REBT, the pioneering form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), is scientifically proven to be highly effective in working with a variety of concerns. My specialties include anxiety, communication, coping skills, life transitions, self-acceptance, self-direction, and stress management.

How Psychotherapy Can Help

In life's most challenging moments, there is no better advocate to have in your corner than an empathetic and resourceful counselor who gives you the tools to ultimately become your own best therapist. No matter your reason for seeking counseling, it would be an honor to support and empower you on this journey!

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy

In the diverse field of mental health counseling, many counselors utilize an eclectic approach that is based on integrating various components of multiple psychotherapy modalities into their own personally tailored model. While these integrated approaches can help clients to feel better within the moment, I believe that integrating dissimilar theories into one combined model does not generally help clients to get better and stay better in the long-term. My approach to counseling is simpler, solution-focused, evidence-based, and highly effective in alleviating psychological, emotional, and relational distress. Through rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT), I assist my clients with developing and achieving realistic goals and effective coping strategies. I help them to learn that in our most challenging moments, when we are unable to change our external circumstances, we can find power in choosing to change ourselves by adapting to our situation and therefore transforming our perspective. This may be challenging and frustrating at first, but once change is truly achieved, it can result in a deep and profound shift of our personal and philosophical perspective, leading to a much more rational, mindful, and psychologically enlightened life!

My Therapy Focus

I specialize in a specific type of therapy called rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT). If you wish to get a better hold on your anxiety, REBT can make a tremendous difference! If you would like to improve your communication with others and move beyond a conflict in your relationship, REBT can help you to achieve this! If you are living with overwhelming grief, persistent depression, overcome with guilt, struggling with a life transition, battling chronic pain, in need of better stress management skills or coping mechanisms, and even if you simply desire to change your life: to live more fully, mindfully, and rationally, REBT can greatly assist you in doing so! I choose to specialize in REBT because I believe in its proven ability to help a variety of individuals with a diverse array of challenges. If you are looking to change some aspect of your life, and you are interested in learning more about how REBT can be helpful to you, please reach out to me and together we will improve your quality of living!

Importance of the Client-Therapist Alliance

I strive to empower all of my clients by helping them to understand that while I am an expert in identifying irrational beliefs, unhealthy emotions, and unhelpful behaviors, YOU ARE THE EXPERT ON YOUR OWN LIFE, and together we can collaborate in the development of powerful coping strategies for the plethora of challenges that life inevitably throws our way. As your therapist, counseling is a journey that we will embark on together, and by the end of this expedition, you will learn that you possess the power to create the world that you desire for yourself: it is all within your thoughts.
