Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I provide general counseling to individuals and couples for a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, grief and loss, and others. I am also fully trained and experienced in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which is an empirically supported technique for reducing or eliminating the effects of posttraumatic stress disorder as well as other forms of psychological trauma.

The special populations I serve include:

1. Men and women who have suffered past sexual trauma andor physical abuse. In most cases Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) has enabled them to work through their unresolved feelings and troubling memories, thus reducing and even eliminating their posttraumatic symptoms. They have also gained a renewed sense of peace in their lives.

2. Active and retired military and their families. Typical issues include the stress of multiple deployments, transitioning to civilian life, and the impact of combat-related posttraumatic stress disorder.

3. First Responders, to help them deal with the stressors unique to their professions.

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy

The role of psychotherapy--as I practice it--is to help my clients undertake a journey of self-discovery so that they can achieve a greater sense of wellbeing and hope for their lives.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

The motto of my practice, Milestone Group, is, "Your Personal Growth is Our Passion." I believe that every person, no matter how beset they are by relationship problems, mood and anxiety issues, or dependence on alcohol, drugs or other compulsive behaviors, has an inner voice that cries out for healing and growth. My passion is to help my clients connect with that voice so that they can achieve this growth.
