My Approach to Helping
I believe in an open-minded, non-judgmental approach to therapy. Celebrating the diversity of identity and expression is vital to maintaining a safe, productive space for connection and growth. I respect the courage it takes to show up for yourself, to value your mental health and happiness, and the importance of that sacred trust between you and your therapist.
As your therapist, I support you in identifying and processing methods of thinking, personal skills, tools, and strategies that build and protect your health while addressing current challenges. We focus on what's important to you and take it one step at a time. In therapy together, we start a process that explores your unique experience.
When working with clients and patients, I take a person-centered approach. I employ theory to inform my curiosity and assessment in an organic process that engages conversation and builds connection. I use an eclectic approach, combining elements of interpersonal neurobiology, attachment, relational, mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), polyvagal, and existential theories to tailor my interventions to the individual and adapt with new information as we work together. I strive to represent myself honestly to those I work with and to understand them honestly. The result is a collaborative and insightful experience, elevating awareness and creating change.
