My Approach to Helping
I believe it's a tremendous gift to witness people healing as they implement changes in their lives that bring satisfaction, serenity, and growth. With over 30 years of experience, Besides providing counseling to individuals, couples, and adolescents, I offer guidance to parents on how to improve their relationship with their children. I also have many years of experience in Alcohol and Drug Treatment, inpatient and outpatient. I specialize in anxiety, ADHD, substance abuse and dependency, codependency, and managing college stress.
My style is warm and collaborative while providing practical skills. Often on a therapeutic journey together, we may find there is trauma and family system work to address and treat. I help you to utilize coping skills informed by mindfulness, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, organizational skills, and a trauma-informed approach.
Feeling nervous about finding someone to work with is totally normal. During your initial visit, you can expect with me as your provider, we will gather some of your history. I will be learning about your goals and what I can do to help you get there. Therapists are providing a service. You do not have to keep the first one you meet. You have a right to get the one you feel best with.
