My Approach to Helping
Anxiety can feel like a ball and chain. You push through it to go to the party, but spend hours afterward wondering if you said something stupid or rude. Your kids are your greatest joy, but you exhaust yourself worrying about them, and can’t stop snapping at them. You grind through long hours at work, but at home, you can’t resist the urge to check your email or endlessly scroll on your phone. I get it. What you want is to laugh and have fun with your friends. To listen and connect when your kids tell you about their day. Finally find time for cycling, painting, or whatever it is that you love. That’s where I come in.
In our first session, we’ll walk through an exercise that will show you a very different way of responding to obsessive thoughts or intense feelings (you know, that feeling of not being able to breathe, or wanting to crawl out of your skin?). When you leave, you’ll feel more at ease and have confidence that there is a way to escape the worry trap!
In each session, we’ll identify more self-defeating thoughts and actions, and use a variety of techniques to overcome them.
