My Approach to Helping
I am licensed by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners as a licensed professional counselor, and I am also a Nationally Certified Counselor. I obtained my master's degree in Professional Counseling from Grand Canyon University in 2017. Before entering private practice, I worked for four years as a therapist contracted with the Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation, and Re-Entry, providing services in various state prisons, including death row. This experience has equipped me with a comprehensive understanding of mental health conditions that can lead to stress, anxiety, and depression. I possess extensive experience in working with individuals facing challenges such as trauma, depression, anxiety, psychosis, personality diagnoses, substance use disorders, and gender dysphoria. My therapeutic approach involves being open, supportive, and an active listener, guiding my clients to discover their own inner strengths to confront what I describe as our 'inner demons.' As an active duty military veteran, I served over eight and a half years in the U.S. Army, both on active duty and in the Army Reserve. Following my military service, I dedicated 20 years to working for the State of Arizona before my retirement. I genuinely believe that each individual possesses the power to address fears, distress, and uneasiness from within. In my role as your therapist, my focus will be on listening and assisting you in finding your inner strengths to overcome obstacles and acquire skills for lifelong growth. I currently offer Telehealth sessions exclusively, with availability on Monday-Thursday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Note: My calendar appointments are set to Central Time Zone. On a personal note, I enjoy riding motorcycles and bicycles, anything on two wheels. I enjoy cooking and grilling at home, play recreational adult co-ed soccer, and on occasion, jump out of airplanes for fun. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or to schedule a consultation.
