My Approach to Helping
I tend to use cognitive behavioral therapy with most of my clients which looks at how our thoughts, feelings and behaviors impact each other. Cognitive behavioral therapy has been researched more than any other therapeutic approach and is effective with a wide range of problems such as depression, trauma, anxiety, social anxiety and other problems. I also use some other modalities as needed such as DBT (dialetical behavior therapy) and ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy) depending on the needs of the person.
We will decide at the beginning of therapy on some goals that we will work on together. These goals may change as we work together. I will ask for feedback from you about the different interventions and strategies that I suggest to see if they feel helpful to you. That feedback will help guide us on what approach I use.
I work through a company called Triangle Counseling Agency, but see people virtually only at this time. I am licensed in North Carolina, Virginia and Texas and can see clients who live in those three states. Please feel free to call and we can have a 15 minute introduction session on the phone for free so we can see if I am a good fit for your needs. You can also schedule a session by calling the office at 919-277-0253 and use option 2
