My Approach to Helping

You’re not sure when it happened, but suddenly you feel older. Maybe you’re noticing a change in social engagement, longer recovery time after late nights, or a general feeling of fatigue. Maybe your parents are transitioning into that stage of life which requires more care, bringing aging to the forefront of your mind. You’re feeling overwhelmed by responsibility, conflict, and indecision. You want a safe place to voice your hopes and fears and feel at peace with the decisions that impact your loved ones while honoring your own needs. Let me help you.

My approach is both humanistic and systemic, shaped by my background in medicine and public health. I believe that each person functions as an individual as well as part of a larger ecosystem. Mental health problems are influenced and maintained by the systems in which we live, not just the responsibility of the individual. Identifying these systems will help us better understand ourselves, others, and our desired path forward.

I strive for clarity and collaboration in every session to promote healing, empowerment, and joy. My priority is to understand the client’s vision and goals, not to present my own. I value empathy, curiosity, and non-judgmental acceptance as drivers of a good therapeutic approach. I endeavor to craft a customized treatment plan for each client that reflects their cultural values and ongoing feedback. I aim to foster a supportive environment where clients can explore their own experiences and reach their full potential.

My Therapy Focus

We live in a society that devalues the aging process, and many adults feel left out of the conversation. I take a pro-aging stance in my work to create a safe and empowering space for exploration and difficult dialogue...

What do I love about getting older? What is my preferred way of being? What is dating like at my age? Who am I after the loss of my partner? How do I increase intimacy and sexuality in my relationship? How do I feel about empty nesting, retirement? How do we make decisions about "long term and end of life care, living wills, and funerals"? How do I cope with caregiver burnout?

I value the aging process, the shift in priorities, and the wisdom that comes with it. My work focus on age-related transitions and relationship challenges for mid to late life adults, their partners, families, and friends. I can help you reconnect with yourself, your loved ones, and your dreams.
