My Approach to Helping
Hello, and welcome to my therapy practice. Whatever is bringing you to therapy right now- a break up, a loss, the overwhelm of being highly sensitive in this world, the gut wrenching challenges of fertility struggles or pregnancy loss, the anticipation and transitions of pregnancy and postpartum- will be explored with openness, curiosity and compassion. Things really do begin to feel easier and more manageable when we share what hurts. I believe we are all meant for connection and need other people to help us throughout our lives. We are not meant to struggle along.
More Info About My Practice
I offer several sliding-scale spots as part of my commitment to making therapy affordable for those who are drawn to my practice and would otherwise be unable to receive therapy.
Sessions are typically 50-minutes at least once a week, although it is not uncommon to schedule more frequent sessions. This continuity allows us to build and maintain our relationship and keep the momentum of the work going so you can get the most out of it.
Some topics and issues I tend to work with are grief & loss, childhood trauma, issues related to pregnancy, pregnancy loss, infertility and being highly sensitive.
Importance of the Client-Therapist Alliance
I believe the most important aspect of therapy is finding the right match with a therapist you feel comfortable, safe, and willing to be vulnerable with. Therapy is a unique opportunity to explore deeper aspects of yourself within the particular relationship created between us. The relationship between therapist and client is designed to focus on you, but sometimes an important part of the work is exploring what comes up between us.
The first goal of our work will be to establish safety in our relationship where you can begin to feel trust in me as well as in your own intuition. Therefore, we will spend time getting to know each other and establishing safety and trust in order to build a foundation for our work together as we move forward.
