My Approach to Helping

Despite their many successes and strengths, many women struggle with feelings of not being good enough or anxiety about their career, relationships, and future. My practice is dedicated to helping women stop worrying or feeling bad about themselves in order to live happier and more fulfilling lives. To accomplish this, I utilize a variety of evidence-based practices to help my clients develop new ways of understanding their inner worlds and to change their relationships with themselves and others. I aim to balance exploring the roots of your current challenges with identifying practical changes that will help you feel better and reach your goals.

Having a baby can intensify these feelings of anxiety or not being good enough. I specialize in helping pregnant and postpartum women navigate the transition to parenthood and in the treatment of prenatal and postpartum depression and anxiety disorders. I also provide therapy to address the impact of infertility, pregnancy complications, and birth trauma. While many women experience not feeling like themselves during or after pregnancy, mental health treatment can help you learn new ways to cope with difficult feelings and thoughts in order to alleviate your symptoms and promote the wellbeing of you and your family.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Perinatal Mental Health Clinician. I completed my Bachelor’s and Master's degrees at the University of Chicago. I have completed additional postgraduate training in cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy, and perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. Earlier in my career, I provided psychotherapy in a primary care setting to a diverse population of clients addressing a wide range of concerns and challenges such as depression, anxiety, traumatic stress, and complex health problems. I am also a perinatal mental health clinician for the Endeavor Health Moms Line.

The Duration and Frequency of Therapy

People new to therapy commonly wonder how long treatment will take and whether it will be helpful. Many people also worry about spending months or years in therapy without seeing positive changes. To address these concerns, we will work together to establish shared goals and a plan for your care to ensure our work together meets your unique needs.

In my practice, I provide both short term (3-6 months) and long term treatment. My goal is that all my clients will see significant positive impacts of participating in therapy within the first three months. From that point, the decision whether to pursue long or short term treatment is determined by your specific goals and preferences.

Short term treatment is generally focused on increasing your understanding of your current challenges, adopting new coping strategies, and accessing needed support. Longer term treatment is appropriate for people who seek to develop an in-depth understanding of themselves and their relationships, benefit from ongoing therapist support, or who are coping with long standing stressors or challenges. No matter the duration of treatment, we will evaluate your progress regularly to make sure therapy is helping to address your symptoms and supporting you in living the life you want to lead.
