My Approach to Helping

Dr. Sandoval's approach is tailored to address the specific needs of each person, with an emphasis on identifying unconscious limiting thoughts, judgments and beliefs. Having a safe and supportive place to work through challenging life experiences in itself can be very helpful and healing. Some clients may need input and reflection, suggestions, or techniques and tools to understand and deal with what they are going through. Others come to therapy for in-depth analysis of their personality, behaviors, reactions, defenses, desires, dreams, thoughts or feelings in order to expand and deepen their self-understanding, self-knowledge, and address deeper philosophical questions of meaning and purpose.

Dr. Sandoval's research specialty is forgiveness (how, when, and why we do or don't forgive). She has in-depth experience working with couples, families, and those who are struggling with issues of forgiveness, self-forgiveness, resentment, guilt, commitment, abandonment, rejection, trauma, abuse or depression due to relationship struggles.

Theoretical Influences that Guide My Work

Psychoanalytic, Jungian, Archetypal, and post-Jungian influences primarily guide our work. Dr. Sandoval has extensive cognitive-behavioral, life coaching, and relationship coaching skills (in the spirit of Landmark Education and PAX programs). She has worked closely with highly creative people (artists, writers and performers) and spent a decade in leadership in the high tech industry in Silicon Valley.
