Parker is a town in Douglas County, Colorado. It sits at an elevation of 5,900 feet and covers 22 square miles. Parker was founded in 1864 and incorporated in 1981.

Parker has 54,000 inhabitants. The population grew by 20% between 2010 and 2017. Ninety-seven percent of the people in Parker are American citizens. Over 2,900 military veterans live in the town. 

The racial composition of Parker is 83% white, 9% Hispanic, 3% Asian, and 1% black. Foreign-born people account for 6% of the population. Ten percent of residents have a native language other than English. Parker is home to 1,600 Spanish speakers and 400 Chinese speakers.

There is a growing need for the Parker Police Department to respond to mental health calls in the town. To address this need, the department has acquired the services of a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW).
