My Approach to Helping
I work to provide a safe environment for clients to explore feelings. I provide feedback and direction as necessary. I am not the listen and say, \'Uh hum\" type. My approach is direct, and often I use humor to bring things into perspective. I have been a psychotherapist for over 30 years. I strive to create a safe place for you to explore and successfully address the challenges you bring to therapy. I specialize in treating trauma (chronic or recent). I am a certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTPII). Trauma is not necessarily a specific event; it can be the environment you breathe(d). I also work with depression, anxiety, hopeless grief, and communication issues.
I have extensive experience in the field of trauma, energy psychology (Psych-K, Neuro- Emotional Technique, Heartspeak, TNT and EMDR). I have found these techniques to be very effective to help people move through troubling issues, intrusive thoughts, flashbacks and emotional triggers.
I've worked with a wide variety of clients and have substantial experience providing support to people from many backgrounds with a wide variety of concerns. I can help you be the person you want to be by helping you to see what's in your way. I find energy work invaluable to processing issues, but talk therapy and relationship building is where it starts.I use cognitive behavioral techniques to help you make sense of things and learn how your thinking affects your feelings and decisions. I identify cognitive distortions (ways of communicating that drive people to the brink) to help people in conflict understand what is happening between them. I look to family of origin relationships (Object Relations) to help clients understand what is being repeated in their current relationships and how to move beyond that. I use trauma specific interventions (Psych-K, Neuro-Emotional Technique, TNT and Heartspeak) to help clients move quickly through their distress. These techniques are also used to help clients change their behavior and beliefs about themselves. I use all of the above to help people find themselves, their value and worth as well as their life\'s purpose.
