My Approach to Helping
Hello! I'm Jessica, I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) working in New York State. I specialize in working with adults with a range of concerns from serious mental health diagnoses to addiction, to anxiety and relationship concerns.
I provide a trauma-informed and psychodynamic approach to talk therapy. I take a person-centered and strengths-based approach to therapy. My goal is to help you develop the best understanding of you.
I typically work with adults dealing with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, substance use disorders, andor PTSD. I'm happy to discuss diagnoses and conditions not listed as well. I work with individuals of all gender identities, as well as everyone across the LGBTIQA+ spectrum.
My communication style is calm, accommodating, and personable. I want my clients to feel comfortable talking with me about anything, and I pride myself on my ability to listen without judgment. That being said, I may challenge you at times to delve deeper and explore what has brought you to where you are today.
I've been involved in the social work world for over ten years, and have worked with a variety of populations such as children, IPV survivors, Holocaust survivors, and individuals with serious mental illness diagnoses involved in the criminal justice system. I was drawn to this field after losing so many of my loved ones to mental health issues and substance use and wanted to help fill the gap in treatment services that failed them. I believe sometimes everyone can use a little bit of help to reach their goals, and am here to help the process.
I'm a big believer in you setting your goals and us working together to find the best way to reach them.
We will check in and get to know one another and focus on what it is that you want out of therapy. We'll also go over your background and history so that I can begin to gain a comprehensive understanding of you.
