My Approach to Helping
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I am a person centered therapist with a trauma informed approach. I work with individuals and couples who have relational and sexual trauma.
I am a trauma informed therapist with a focus in the individual. I incorporate multiple modalities tailored to fit the client needs at that time. Some modalities include Internal Family Systems with parts work and emotionally focused therapy to help clients attune to the self.
I typically work with individuals and couples who have experienced childhood and adulthood traumas such as molestation, sexual assault, parental abuse, and intimate partner abuse. I also work with individuals in life transitions and those learning to manage anxiety andor depressive symptoms.
I am a client centered therapist. I provide a warm, grounded, non-Judgmental environment in which clients can increase self compassion and move through stuck places with support.
I experienced complex traumas in my younger life. The lasting impact and ways I found to move through and beyond survival into a thriving life give me great compassion for others.
I listen to client goals and together we collaborate to meet those goals. The client is the expert on themselves. I am just meeting and getting to know the client. I use my knowledge, insight, and experience to help clients navigate difficulties.
The first session is about getting to know one another, discuss expectations, and responsibilities. Clients can feel free to ask any questions or concerns they may have. We can discuss the presenting issues and briefly how we may approach them.
