My Approach to Helping
We are all addicted to Not-Being-Here-Now, Not-Feeling-This-Feeling, Not-Facing-This-Thing. These are our core addictions. We all have them. They may manifest as unhealthy relationships to drugs, alcohol, food, sex, gambling, smoking, working, etc. There are many ways in which we avoid being present to our own experience of being human. I'd like to explore with you the ways in which you hide from your Self. I’m interested in identifying your particular brilliance in avoiding your pain, helping you conceptualize it and redefine your relationship to it. Together we will explore what it means to be fully human, fully engaged with life.
We'll identify and bring to light those dark, intolerable parts of yourself that you’ve tried to deny, and together we will begin to approach, bear, and hold the unbearable. We'll explore new ways for you to relate to your past that will enable you to experience a new freedom and a new happiness. Responsibility, freedom, and choice are the key to this work.
I offer a free initial 20 minute telehealth consultation. Therapy is a deeply personal experience, and it is imperative that you find the right fit with your therapist.
