My Approach to Helping
It's not easy selecting someone to trust with issues you are facing. Understanding that, I work to create a safe and empathetic space to explore issues and help you uncover your potential for change and growth.
Working with a wide range of issues, I tailor each session to meet your needs and address issues affecting you. In a respectful, caring, and non-judgmental way I empower you to make lasting changes in your life. Additionally, I am an EMDR certified clinician and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional helping people to heal from traumatic and painful events.
I work with adults and seniors to better manage anxiety, depression, life transitions, grief, PTSD trauma, and other difficulties. I also partner with couples to improve communication and build healthy relationships. I have experience addressing workplace challenges, career changes, and performance enhancement. I enjoy working with teens and their families to facilitate understanding and ease the stress of coming out in an accepting, non-judgmental environment.
More Info About My Practice
I love my work and feel passionate about being an agent of change for my clients wanting to grow and move forward. I work with EMDR because I have seen how effective it is in helping those wanting to heal from painful events and are experiencing PTSD symptoms, anxiety, self-limiting beliefs, and feel stuck. It opens the door to hope in the form of new insights as well as seeing yourself as resilient. It allows for new resources, perspectives, and more realistic and empowering beliefs to emerge that lead to healing.
Theoretical Influences that Guide My Work
I use an eclectic, holistic, and strengths based approach based on your needs. This includes Eye Movement and Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, as well as Solution Focused techniques. I include mindfulness skills and have found that mindfulness practices incorporating mind, body, and spirit are very effective in managing a broad range of issues. I recognize that each person is unique and I will individualize my approach to meet your needs.
Importance of the Client-Therapist Alliance
Finding a therapist is not a simple task. It is important that you find someone you trust and that you feel understands your specific needs and is effective in helping you address those needs. The relationship that forms is essential for creating a sacred and safe space for growth and healing. Ultimately, the results you achieve and the growth you experience should be the measure of the value of therapy.
