My Approach to Helping
Johanna is an EMDRIA approved EMDR therapist, a somatic therapist, and reiki practitioner.
Johanna Jameson started her career volunteering to assist therapists in Without Warning, a support group for young-onset Alzheimer's disease. Additionally, she was a research assistant studying post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and published peer-reviewed research.
In 2016, she established Memory Farm, the first
farm-based adult day care in the United States for Alzheimer's disease and other dementias. She offered patients and families an alternative to traditional indoor daycare. At Memory Farm, the clients tended gardens and animals and participated in projects like selling eggs and garden yields. These activities stimulated thinking, required movement, created a sense of purpose, and preserved dignity.
Johanna has lectured widely on issues of aging and has served as an instructor for the Certified Dementia Practitioner course. She has appeared on numerous podcasts discussing important issues in mental health.
