My Approach to Helping
I am goal oriented in my work with clients. In the first session I explore what has been working, what has been tried previously to resolve the current issue and what the ideal outcome would be for our work together. Based on this I make recommendations about where we might start and what our initial goals might be. Additionally, I often give clients homework assignments that grow out of our session. This might involve discussing a specific topic in greater depth, reader an article pertinent to their current challenges. We follow up on this homework in the following session.
My clients tell me they appreciate my supportive, pragmatic and hands on approach. I\'m skilled at identifying client strengths and areas of challenge. I'm compassionate but also direct about providing feedback on areas that need to be addressed. I'm skilled at establishing relationships of trust and many of my clients have worked with me off and on for years. I'm dedicated and a fierce advocate for my clients. Many have told me our relationship has been one of the most important relationships in their lives and that our work has been life changing.
