My Approach to Helping
Supporting your growth and resilience during times of either transition or feeling stuck is a major part of my clinical work. In addition to conventional talk therapy, I am also trained in trauma-focused approaches. My therapeutic stance is thoughtful and low key, yet engaging and warm. I can also be directive in solving specific problems when it serves your best interests. At heart, my goal is to help you face the self-imposed obstacles that are getting in your way. To that end, I have expertise in psychoanalysis, EMDR, and short-term models of psychotherapy.
In the initial session, we will use the time to discuss your hopes and expectations for our work. It is a time for you to assess whether my approach and style will best serve your needs.
The key factors that create change are mutual trust, client motivation, and skill on the part on the therapist.
More Info About My Practice
While online therapy can achieve significant results, for some people meeting in person is essential to a positive therapeutic experience, particularly for those who have experienced trauma, abuse, or neglect in their life.
As a therapist, I have had made a major commitment to life learning and skill enhancement, training in a variety of therapeutic modalities and approaches, and continue to receive ongoing professional supervision for my clinical work. I do not believe that "One Size Fits All," but instead try to tailor my approach to your particular needs and goals. At the same time, my fundamental stance is to help you address unconscious behaviors and beliefs that may be interfering in living your best life.
I currently meet with people in person and online. I continue to keep up-to-date with all current vaccinations and boosters for COVID-19. If we meet in person, I ask that you take the standard precautions for dealing with COVID and other communicable illnesses.
