My Approach to Helping

Feeling out of control or out of Focus? Do ADHD related issues hold you or a loved one back from dreams and potential? Feelings of worry, confusion, anger, and sadness can make your relationships, parenting, work, or your education seem impossible or like plain torture. My passion is helping people tap into their their inherent worth and significance, while promoting growth. You can tackle the problems you have, and you have the power to promote well-being in yourself and in your relationships. Lets get to work, and see the results in your life, experience improvements in your mood, feel deeper intimacy in your relationships, perform at your best at work-and maybe even enjoy it : ), and see educational enhancement. But must of all, have peace of mind.

A focus of my practice is helping individuals who are struggling with personal challenges that may be impeding their ability to focus, be productive in their careers, or may be suffering through relationship and family difficulties. I specialize in ADHD, Depression, and Anxiety treatment with minors and adults. I've been Board Certified by the Academy of Cognitive Therapy as a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist (CBT). This Modality (CBT) has been proven by research to have the lowest relapse rate with Anxiety and Depression. This means my clients gain a set of tools they take with them into life.

If you find yourself struggling with difficult feelings and thoughts that have you bogged down or stuck. Focus problems? Are relationship issues completely overwhelming your being, or are you feel lonely or lost. These feelings are not permanent. Reach out, and I'd love to listen. It may seem like a steep climb, but you can overcome! I'm here to help.

More Info About My Practice

Together, we take a closer look as you will begin to understand the "Why’s in your life”. Why do I have these thoughts? Why does my teenager react to me in this way? Why do I procrastinate? Why do I choose these romantic partners? Why do I struggle with addiction? Why don’t I get ahead at work? Why do I feels stuck in this relationship? Why can’t I understand my partner? Why don’t people understand me?

Understanding the “Whys” will lead to knowing what to do about it. In therapy we take a deeper look in order to find the causes to the different traits that make you think, feel, and behave how you do. Together, you will learn why family, friends, significant others, co-workers, may react to you how they do, and why you react in the ways that you do. This process in therapy is collaborative, and done at your own pace! This is when you can truly gain control over your life. Finding out what makes us tick so to speak, and what areas need some fine tuning. I'm looking forward to hearing from you, and beginning our work together towards a life of peace and fulfillment.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I believe humans are unique in the sense that we get to write our own stories. This happens both intentionally and unintentionally. Partly because of our biological make-up, and partly from the experiences from our environment that make us who we are as we interact with our surroundings in this dance we call life. Along with our biology, and our environment, we must also take into account the internal world in which we interact with as we become who we are to be, without anyone ever knowing, and sometimes without us knowing. This potently influential environment may be the most influential place in all of human existence without being in a particular place. This placeless place is our experience within our consciousness and subconscious reality. It runs non-stop like a movie the second it begin. Whether while wake or sleep, we find ourselves surprised and swept away within our own dreams and daydreams.

As a Psychotherapist, I have worked with people suffering from various mental heath diagnosis. In my private practice, I specialized in helping clients suffering from ADHD symptoms that make various aspects of life uncomfortable and difficult. I myself have ADHD, and have struggled with Anxiety and Depression, and was a pretty disruptive adolescentteen if I'm being completely honest, so Opposition Defiant Disorder kiddos and all the various cases and people that I treat in my practice are a true honor and joy to work with. My hope, my heart, and my empathy is in my work with my clients and is fueled and driven from not only my own personal experiences, and from my work with my other clients, but also in a belief that we all can overcome and thrive! I believe in the inherent and honorable strength of the human spirit.

Groups I Work With

“My passion is working with Adults of all ages, and Teens as well. My goal is to take my clients on a journey that leads you towards victory over the barriers and blockades that seem to be in between you and the peace and fulfillment you deserve. I understand the feeling that things are just out of your reach, and like life is just passing you by as you sit on the sidelines and watch as others play the game. But this is not true. This world is yours, and in your palm because you are alive. Your family, relationships, career, and education goals and endeavors can be meaningful, enjoyable, and peaceful because you are capable, lovable, and significant. If you don’t know this yet, or you have forgotten, lets get on a path towards believing these truths for yourself.”
    --John Vail, MA, MFT

I use primarily Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as a treatment modality. Research has shown that CBT has the lowest relapse rate for anxiety and mood disorders.
