My Approach to Helping
I am Dr. Jonathan Behler, a North Carolina, Virginia, and Alabama Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and an ordained minister trained in pastoral counseling. I work primarily through video and phone appointments in a secure environment.
I have a PhD in Psychology, a Master's of Divinity in Theology, a Master's in Professional Counseling, and a BS in Political Science. I am certified in AACC counseling with panic disorder; Neurobiology and Addiction; Certified Clinical Trauma Professional; Marriage Works, and Certified PCIT for Traumatized Children.
I have experience working with clients with depression, anxiety, PTSD, Tourette Syndrome, OCD, marital issues, family issues, clergy burnout, porn addiction, and numerous other mental health issues. I have also worked with military members and their families dealing with PTSD-related issues. Finally, I have extensive experience working with clergy members and their families dealing with issues of the church.
I have worked with a wide array of clients: medical doctors, nurses, police officers, firefighters, lawyers, school teachers, mechanics, sanitation workers, pastors, veterinarians, and many others. I have assisted many of these individuals throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. I have a great interest in marriage counseling with the integration of biblical concepts. I have witnessed many marriages healed and relationships becoming better than ever. I have also worked with clients that struggle with pornography addiction. I have worked with many clients that are struggling with the grief of various types. I have helped individuals with issues of OCD, anxiety, depression, and PTSD symptoms. I believe that God can take a person’s mess and turn it into a message and their test into a testimony!
