My Approach to Helping
If you’re struggling with painful thoughts and feelings, struggling with relationships, or feeling stressed or overwhelmed. I’m not surprised! It can be really hard to be a human being, especially in the last few years. We all struggle sometimes; that is human. If you’re looking for support with these kinds of issues, you’ve come to the right place. I help adult individuals struggling with issues related to mood and emotions (anxiety, depression, trauma, etc), low self-esteem, relationships, and other life stressors to find greater ease, well-being, and fulfillment using research-supported approaches to therapy.
My counseling approach is based on mindfulness and self-compassion and is grounded in the science of the brain and human behavior. It's important to me that I "walk the talk", and I do not suggest that my clients do anything that I have not also done myself. Clients and colleagues have described me as warm, kind, calm, patient, silly, playful, smart, and thoughtful.
I see my clients as unique, special, dignified human beings first and foremost, and I join with them in a spirit of respect and care. I truly value the human beings I work with. If you'd like explore working together, reach out today for a free 30-minute consultation!
More Info About My Practice
Here are some things that make my practice unique:
Formal Feedback: I use formal feedback forms to get feedback from clients before and after every session so that I know exactly how they are doing and how therapy is going; I am accountable to my clients and am always trying to learn how I can be more effective and helpful
Expertise:
-I have advanced training in several types of "third wave" Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies, especially Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which is a therapy that helps people clarify what matters most to them and take action towards those things, and learn practical skills to handle difficult thoughts and feelings that get it in the way. I am passionate about professional growth and learning, and I engage in ongoing training to grow my skills
-I have had a formal mindfulness meditation practice for years and have extensive experience with mindfulness skills training
Free Resources: As part of my work with clients, I offer many resources, such as original handouts related to therapy, recordings of guided meditation practices, free worksheets, and more.
Convenience:
-I offer therapy online, so you can conveniently meet with me from home, work, or wherever else you need to
-I offer a secure online portal to handle all paperwork, billing, and payment simply and easily.
Quality: I maintain a relatively small caseload so that I can provide high-quality care to my clients.
