My Approach to Helping

I work best with people who: a) think they are too smart for therapy, or too smart to be generally understood, b) have been struggling with the same problem for many years, or c) might benefit from insight in addition to empathy.

If one of the above describes you, I recommend reaching out for a consultation. We can discuss what is causing you to reach out, any concerns or questions you might have, and whether this makes sense for you at this time.

If you have interest but are unsure, there is no harm in reaching out. We can chat on the phone or over email about whether this makes sense for you. I keep a wide network of colleagues in case there is a better fit available.

More Info About My Practice

I work with a very diverse clientele. The majority of my experience is in helping teenagers, adults, and couples.

How Psychotherapy Can Help

Why is it helpful to talk to someone about your problems? For two reasons. First, saying something forces us to slow down and listen to our own words. We experience our spoken thoughts much differently than our silent thoughts. Secondly, talking helps communicate thoughts and feelings to another person, who can then ask you questions, or make suggestions, that you haven't thought about.

On the Fence About Going to Therapy?

I have seen therapy work time and time again when people come in, develop a trusting relationship with their therapist, and begin the gradual process of talking openly. That said, asking for help is not an easy thing.

I'm happy to chat on the phone or over email about whether this is the right decision for you. Because so much of this depends on the relationship, I keep a wide network of colleagues in case there is a better fit available.
